Hello,I am a 45 yr.old man that is determined on returning to school.I plan on attending Northwest Lineman College in Orroville ,Ca. in April. The certificate I hope to obtain is the electrical lineworkers certificate which is rather expensive ,but only 4 months long.Yes, the "expense",part of this venture is what is proving to be difficult. This is because of a foreclosure I experienced in 2008,my credit is in ruin.I am currently living with a friend who is the surrogate grandfather to my two young daughters. He is the only grandfather figure they have ever known. He has offered to pay my room and board for the 4 months for this I am so very grateful.I just need about 13000.00 for tuition.

Mr president you are doing everything possible to overcome the problems the economy has, but some people are fighting very hard for you to fail. Please, do not let your oppositions win, just continue to do the right thing and the good people will fall in line eventually.
Lots of us do not know how the constitution works and, therefore, blame you for everything that goes wrong. Please, form a special task force to educate us on th doe's and don't's of how the House and Congress differ in their duties. This, I think ,will turn things around for you. Education on the constitution for everybody is must for now.

My story is similar to many I have seen on here...I can only pray that my prayers be heard. I am a single mother of 2, ages 6 & 8. I have been trying to get my ddegree in the medical field for over 6 yrs now, but find life, family, and income constantly get in my way of finishing. I have worked since I was 15 untill I had my kids. I am very humble, caring little for money or material things. I am just so damn sick, and depressed..it seems I can't seem to get my head above water. With rent, utilities, and the constant needs for my kids like clothes, shoes and school supplies...And well I have no one..my family has all passed away, shoot I am desperate just to get some form a decent paying job, atleast just to be able to afford life untill I can finish my schooling. In 5 months I can be certified as a phlebotomist or med asst, but my TANF doesn't even cover my rent. I have a 1bd for me and my babies, and it costs $750/mo while my TANF is only $634...I do't even know how I will make the rent next month!! i usually rely on the extra income from the Pell Grant, but my last semester at SRJC I failed my classes at the very end of the semester because my car took a dump and I missed the finals. I had above a B average in all my classes up till that point too! So now I have a hold on my transcripts and grant till I repay the school $300. I even applied for a student loan, but thanks to my ex my credit is crap, and I would need a co-signer for a measly $6,000 loan...and well being as I am alone in the world..I don't even have anyone to ask to do that for me. I just want to stop struggling to barely survive, and I know the only way to ever achieve the financial independence I desire is to finish my higher ed. and get a career, but how to accomplish that, and not drown in the meantime seems beyond my capabilities...Oh God please hear my heart, my prayers, my tears...Amen
hello there thank you for taking a brief moment of your time to read this post. I am a struggling student who needs help paying for books that are essential to my learning process. I've come so far to give up now and am doing every thing i can to survive. I have worked hard my whole life and been blessed with the opportunity to attend college and have exhausted my funds to the max and am in need help to purchase my books for class. im at my last and my low, just asking for anyone with the kindness in their heart to help me with anything. i can easily prove my enrollment if requested. thank you for reading my post, peace and blessings. i will respond fast
I am currently a college student who completed a year at Point Park University. I was a dean list student every semester there but due to money troubles had to transfer to an Ohio (in-state) school. The trouble I find is that it would appear no matter where I transfer to money is going to be hard to come by because of the rising cost of college. I am a farm girl, from a blue collar low-income family who lives from paycheck to paycheck. I can't afford to finance my education and can't seems to win any grants or scholarships and I have been unable to attain student loans. I need help paying for college and I am currently looking for investors to invest in me in a Human Capital Contract.
I worked since I was 15 years old and always went above and beyond the call of duty in everything I put effort into. My health caught up with me and I was diagnosed with: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, Anemia, Carpel Tunnel, Vitamin Deficiency, Hypothyroidism, ADD and some other diagnoses that are not quite as bad. This all stemmed from a genetic marker called HLA-B27 and took me a long time to figure out where all the pain and other symptoms were coming from. There is no cure and I am treated via Chemotherapy to slow the progression till they come up with a cure, if there ever will be one and I am optimistic there will be.
I was discharged from my job, because I couldn't work and had no income. I ended up filing for disability and it took so long to get approved, but it's not enough to survive. If you want to know the sad amount - just ask. My goal of a college degree is what I want to focus on and I recently applied for financial aid. I want to be a Paralegal, but the amount of aid I would receive is only $5000 and basically I am $20,000 short. Sure, I can take out loans, but if I don't get a job right away and can maintain it, then I won't be able to pay the $220 monthly payments to cover my student loans. I've always given and helped others within my means and now I only want to see where this goes and hopefully get to find help and start school on August 24th. If I am unable to come up with the funding, then I will have to start later. I do believe that if I am blessed with the help I am seeking - I will pay it forward in as many ways as I can.
People may wonder why I don't ask my family. My father was murdered and my mother is disabled. I am not seeking pity, only being honest. I want to do great things and I am only 33. If there is a will, there is a way. I hope to see the way.
If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to contact me. I have nothing to hide and only want to better my life and others that may be in a situation of need.

Financial Aid Department/Extenuating Letter of Circumstances
I have gained entrance to the Teacher’s Education Program. Unfortunately this year has not been well. I worked two jobs until July 2010. I am now solely hired as a temporary worker. in hopes to earn 180 days to compensate for Internship I and II. Next semester I am officially at senior status
Due to supporting myself while maintaining an education, in hope for a prosperous degree, I have lost so much. The desire to be a future teacher remains. I did not ask for certain events to happen throughout my childhood to now, but I am trying to make it as a single woman of 25 with no kids and no financial help from family. The federal government investing for my future as a teacher has kept me from thinking I am not a statistic. I do not present myself in a way as ever having the background I do. An educator does not have the option be a statistic and prevents students from being another number.
I am barely able to pay bills, notices of eviction, a negative checking account, and an unstable past, is presently what lies between earning my degree.
Before the age of 22, I was not privileged to earn an education. Each time applying for aid reminds me I do have to understand my difficult background. Child Protection Services did not declare me a ward of the state. I have learned to accept my mother was not a suitable guardian for me or my half-sister throughout my life and is a drug addict. Life is not fair, but I have to react to what I can handle.
At 19 years old, I made the decision to gain a higher education. I have had the help of financial aid. I take time to thoroughly explain my situation when asked to. For my degree in Education I will constantly go through this procedure. One day I will not be struggling. I try to find work and ways to be able to pay for rent, car insurance, car, utilities, and food whether it be selling my last book or going without books for a class or selling anything worth value. Next will be my transportation.
I have applied for unemployment and still apply with the answer of “no” each week. I have called 2-1-1 to receive money for food and gas. I have filed for government assistance, scholarships, and unemployment. I also have had to say “yes” for the second time on if I received full time employment “Would I quit attending college if it showed to be interfering with employment?”
I have had to balance work and school and accept academic failure. In addition, my father was released from prison. I now have a parent. He is in the process of restoring his employment. I do not receive any help from my parents. My education is battle because of my uprooted childhood and job instability.
My father has been absent since early childhood. I have reunited with him after eight years. My father’s mother (my grandmother) was granted custody at the age of 16 years old. My grandmother said she could not afford me, by the age of 17 years old; I had to find a home. From then it has been an uphill battle. I have been struggling, but I appreciate every bit of help I can get besides my own. I do not take my education for granted. The semester tested the importance of my education in the field of Education. I do not want to give up on my degree.
I have gone without necessities during my adolescence such as food and shelter. I do not want to again. I also do not use it as an excuse for myself. My endurance earned an associate’s degree to take the place of a high school diploma. I now want to replace my associate’s with a bachelor’s, master’s, and if I am worthy, doctorate’s. . When I lost my job before last, the same incident happened. I have lost two jobs within the last year and a half. My degree in Education cannot be taken away
If I gave up on myself, I have given up the right to say “You can do it”. I know the statement to be rhetorical in my situation but “You have come too far to give up” applies.
My GPA is now at risk for any potential financial help, and my financial situation regarding myself is failing.
My math teacher was kind enough to give me alternate hours in the evening, but out of respect for my teacher and fear of earning an unsatisfactory grade, I withdrew. I scheduled around both quizzes and tests from working. I was attempting to withdraw from TCED 4133 (creating a positive learning environment course) but my professor stopped me. My only convenient class to attend was Thursday evening 7p.m ECED 4131, (reading comprehension course). I just did not have the stability to maintain a strenuous workload and too stubborn to give up my effort in both classes. In the end I received an “F” via e-mail to do the coursework and a “C-“. I continued up until my teacher’s answer of failing me definite served as consequences for trying to maintain my fast pace graduation plan.
I went through my academic chain of command. My adviser since the beginning of my attendance, resigned and a new adviser was to help me. I was able to have a meeting with the Associate Dean. I had never had the opportunity to sit face to face the teacher much less the Dean. The one class not interfering, held at 7p.m. every Thursday, I earned an “F” in. I use “earned” because I did not stop myself from realizing my health was and is now at risk because I failed to understand my 6th year as a self-supporting college student is hard. I could have been suspended or disqualified from the Teacher’s Program. My scores from Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) test to gain entrance to the Teacher’s Education Program scores are high set above passing, but mine where noticeably above average; the Associate Dean asked me what I did. I cared. It is about having the drive to be a teacher.
I do take fault in academic policies and I do have excuses and letters to prove what the year has done to my financial status and my health. I try to go without excuses and letters.
My professor gave me the opportunity to receive credit for her course. I watched myself presenting a lesson plan to a class. The future teacher in me was recognized by myself, in myself, and not with the help of others. The purpose of my professor was made clear; it was not just about passing. I let one teacher influence me to give up, examples of what kind of educator I wanted to be were answered, and the question of if my degree should be earned in Education was too, in one semester.
My degree is Education. I want to make a difference and give back to my community as a teacher. Please do not give up on me obtaining my degree as an EC-6th Generalist and beyond. Thank you so very much for your time to read through my issues.

Consolidation Loans are available to most borrowers of Federal education loans and come from one of two sources:
•Direct Consolidation Loans are made by the U.S. Department of Education. You repay a Federal Consolidation Loan to the U.S. Department of Education.
•Federal Consolidation Loans are made through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program. While FFEL funds come from private lenders, such as banks and credit unions, they are subsidized and supported by the U.S. Department of Education. You repay a FFEL Consolidation Loan to the private lender that made the loan or to its designated agency.
Whether you receive a Direct or FFEL Consolidation Loan depends on which program you choose. In either case the terms of the loan (loan amounts, interest rate, and other benefits) are generally the same.
General Program Requirements
Most Federal student loans are eligible for consolidation, including subsidized and unsubsidized Direct and Federal Family Education (FFEL) Stafford Loans, Direct and FFEL PLUS Loans (parent loans), Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Nursing Loans, and Health Education Assistance Loans. Private educational loans are not eligible.
You can get an FFEL Consolidation Loan during your grace period, once you have entered repayment, or during periods of deferment or forbearance. Direct Consolidation Loans are also available when you are still in school. Borrowers who are in default must meet certain requirements before they may consolidate their loans.

I am 30 years old, unemployed living in Greece. Things had become difficult here. I can't pay my bills, I haven't found a job yet although I try and I have not access to better education due to financial reasons. The financial crisis has sunk my country in debt and misery. I still hope that the sun will eventually shine... My dream is to find a job and to be able to study at college. Could anyone help?
